Nearly 30 years ago, a small group of people dreamed God could build a church in the Carson Valley where the gospel would be clear, lives would change, and a family of faith would grow. That dream became LifePoint.

Since then, we’ve seen God move in incredible ways—from baptisms in hot tubs to ministries that meet real needs—reaching people locally and globally. But as we look to the next 30 years, we know the future will take more than any one of us.

The More Than Us Initiative is a two-year journey to deepen our faith, widen our reach, and prepare for what God has ahead. Together, we’ll invest relationally—each committing to love, serve, and invite one person who doesn’t yet know Jesus. And we’ll invest financially—sacrificially giving above and beyond so we can create spaces for connection, strengthen NextGen ministries, and expand our impact.

Those before us sacrificed so we could be here today. Now it’s our turn—for our friends, our community, and generations to come. This is more than a project. More than a moment. This is More Than Us.

“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Our Goals

For nearly 30 years, our building has been an incredible resource that God has used to change lives—from baptisms and big community events, to programs that help people overcome addiction and comfortable spaces where people can grow in their faith in a small group. Now it’s time to prepare our campus for the next 30 years.

LOCAL AND GLOBAL KINGDOM IMPACT

LifePoint has always been about more than just us. In the past year, we’ve planted churches in Ethiopia, funded a building in Costa Rica, and served thousands in the Carson Valley through local partners—meeting practical needs while sharing the hope of the Gospel. Through this initiative, we’ll continue supporting current mission partners while expanding our reach even further. Globally, we’ll help plant and strengthen churches, and regionally we’ll invest in church plants across the Great Basin—Oregon, Idaho, Utah, California, Wyoming, and Nevada—so that more people experience the life-changing message of Jesus.

NextGen HUB

We believe in reaching the next generation—because they aren’t just the future of the church, they are the church today. Currently, our space for students and young adults is limited and often shared, leaving them without a place that truly feels like their own. Instead of building new, we’ll repurpose the two-story garage and storage facility next to the Family Center into a dedicated NextGen hub. By relocating storage to another area on campus, we’ll create a space where middle school, high school, and young adults can gather, invite friends, grow in their faith, and be discipled by leaders who know them by name.

INTENTIONAL OUTDOOR SPACES

Right now, many people leave soon after service because there aren’t enough welcoming places to stay and connect. We want to change that by creating outdoor “linger zones” designed for community. With shaded gathering areas and covered shelters, families and friends will be able to enjoy time together no matter the weather. These spaces will also include safe play areas where kids can have fun while parents connect with others nearby. By making our campus more inviting, we’ll create natural opportunities for relationships to grow, helping people feel at home and truly part of our church family.

STEWARDING OUR FACILITIES

We’re updating key areas of our campus to make it more welcoming and distraction-free—a place where people can clearly hear the gospel and feel at home. In the auditorium, new seating, lighting, and carpet will create a comfortable environment for worship and teaching. Across our campus, we’ll also address important safety and maintenance needs, adding fencing and shade to the kids’ playground so families can feel secure and children can play longer with their friends after church. These improvements will help us create a space where connection and growth happen every week.

Frequently Asked Questions

A vision initiative isn’t just a financial campaign. While it includes a financial component, it’s primarily about rallying our church around the mission that Jesus gave us — to make disciples of all nations. This initiative gives us new opportunities for evangelism and discipleship by equipping LifePoint with the tools and resources to serve our church family, our neighbors in the Carson Valley, and people around the world. It has been five years since we completed our last initiative, and we believe God is calling us to walk out a new local and global Gospel vision.

In Proverbs 29:18, we’re reminded that “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” A vision from the Lord renews our strength and purpose (Isaiah 40:31). This initiative invites every Christ follower at LifePoint into the Great Commission through prayer, serving, giving, and inviting others to follow Jesus.

No. LifePoint will not take on long-term debt to fund this initiative. There may be a few up-front costs related to initiative resources or building materials, but those expenses will be paid using the funds raised through the initiative. Our intention is to move forward with projects only as God provides the resources through His people.

We’ve been seeking the Lord’s timing for a while, and we believe this is it. There’s momentum in our church, a growing hunger to reach more people, and a clear sense that God is inviting us to take an obedient step of faith. Some of the facility needs are also time-sensitive. But above all, we want to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit — and we believe now is the time to respond.

If God provides more than our $1.5 million goal, we’ll celebrate first! Then we’ll assess how any additional funds will be used to further His Kingdom work through LifePoint. This may include future facility needs, building improvements, as well as being able to respond quickly to new ministry opportunities. We are committed to stewarding every dollar toward gospel-centered impact, both locally and globally.

Our current building loan is at a 2.9% interest rate with a 10-year term, and we’re already three years into that term. While we’re open to using excess funds to pay down debt if God provides above and beyond, our current focus is on expanding ministry impact. Paying off debt now would limit our ability to pursue the projects and gospel opportunities God is calling us to step into.

Our long-term goal is to shift LifePoint’s missions funding from being part of our general budget to being sustained by designated giving. That transition began with our 2024 Night of Missions and will continue through this initiative. By including three years of mission funding in the initiative, we can support our local and global partners during this transition and position our church to go even further in reaching the world for Christ.

Right now, the space used by our students and young adults is overcrowded and shared with other ministries, which means they often don’t have a place that feels like their own. At the same time, many students in our valley are looking for safe, welcoming spaces to hang out and belong.

We plan to convert the existing garage and storage building next to the Family Center into a dedicated student and young adult ministry space. This will provide a consistent, purpose-driven environment where students can build relationships, grow in their faith, and invite their friends. We’re not building something new — we’re reimagining what we already have for the next generation.

Projects will move forward based on available funds and volunteer capacity. A priority matrix has been developed to guide that process, ensuring the most urgent needs are addressed first. At the same time, the More Than Us Team, Board of Directors, and Elders will continue praying and seeking God’s direction as we move forward.

First, we’re asking everyone to pray. Pray for your ONE — someone in your life who needs Jesus. Ask God to show you who that is, and to give you the boldness to love and serve them.

Second, we’re asking you to seek God about your role in this initiative. What does it look like for you to give generously, above and beyond your regular giving? What would it mean to trust Him in a deeper way? This initiative is about more than projects — it’s about growing in faith, stepping into mission, and asking God to use us in ways that only He can.
